About Me
Emily Kivlehan, MD is an attending physician in pediatric rehabilitation medicine at the Shirley Ryan Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµÍøÕ¾ and an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed her physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University/Shirley Ryan Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµÍøÕ¾ and her pediatric rehabilitation medicine fellowship at Harvard Medical School / Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
Dr. Kivlehan is passionate about optimizing the quality of life and daily function of children with disabilities and life altering diagnoses. She values family-focused care with an emphasis on shared decision making. Dr. Kivlehan works with a wide variety of diagnoses; specific clinical interests include cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, infant rehabilitation and the early detection of cerebral palsy. She is an attending on the inpatient rehabilitation unit for several months a year, performs chemodenervation injections, performs inpatient consultations at multiple local children's hospitals, serves as the physician for Homewood Pediatric Day Rehabilitation, and has outpatient clinic at the Shirley Ryan Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµÍøÕ¾ Flagship Hospital.
She is the Program Director for the McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University Combined Pediatrics-Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program. She has represented PM&R nationally on the ACGME residency review committee and through numerous leadership roles with national PM&R organizations.
